About

A small cottage with a big history. The original cottage was built in Bethany in 1842 to house the first village herdsman, Fredrich Kockrick. In the 70’s the Landhaus was dubbed Australia’s smallest restaurant and motel, with people flying in from all over to stay and attend bespoke dinner parties. Fondly remembered over the years by locals and visitors as 'the place to go', there have been many memorable meals, love and laughter shared within these walls over the years.

Landhaus has been passion project of restoration and extension. The owners, Sally Etherton and David Angel, have spent years creating a space that they would love to stay, and look forward to sharing it with you. The many bespoke details throughout have been thoughtfully considered.

With an artist and jack of all trades owner combination, art was always destined to be a part of the Landhaus story. It is no coincidence that the new addition to the building has been called ‘The Gallery’. During the design phase of the project much consideration was given to hang space for art, in Sally’s mind there there can never be enough! You’ll find Sally’s art at every turn, inspired by the prosperity of the Barossa. During your stay if a piece of art takes your heart, they are available for purchase. Sally and Dave are only to happy to package the piece up for you to take with you or organise delivery.

Landhaus is a place to discover and dream.

We look forward to your stay.
